What's up with apps giving us fake deadlines for a free lifetime membership?? I downloaded WaveSecure and Documents To Go before their deadlines on Feb 1 and now WaveSecure extended it to March 31 and Docs To Go extended theirs to Feb28.

Ironically, WaveSecure doesn't work properly on my phone and Docs To Go had an error when I actually tried to upgrade for $15. I didn't lose any money in the process I just wanted to know your thoughts on these "fake" deadlines.

Not sure if I understand entirely...so you're complaining that the "fake" deadline was extended so that many others can enjoy the benefits of a free app?

My guess is that they're both expecting a tidal wave of new users once all the Android phones come out this year, and that the lifetime subscription is their way of "paying" us for being beta testers. Right now there's a handful of users for those programs, versus what there'll be in a year once all the Android phones are out.

As long as the developer continues to follow through with their obligation I have no problem with extending offers as the bigger the user pool the better the product development. What pisses me off is when I pay for lifetime updates of the "Gold" version of an app and 3 months later the developer abandons the Gold and comes out with a "Platinum" version, leaving me in the cold. Had this happen more than a few times with windows based programs.
