I have seen a video clip on MTV in 2001, but forgot its title. Asked about it on Google Questions, Yahoo Andwers, but answer there was none. Here is what I remember:
There was a DJ, who would search for a girl, which could sing (or pretend to sing) his song on a stage. He would select one of maybe twenty and would ask her "Do you want to be a star?" (in fact, he didn't ask using voice, but only a comic cloud appeared on the screen with a phrase "Do you want to be a star?" written into it). When she appeared on the stage eventually, she could not lip-sync, because "her" voice was sampled and repeated on sampler in a manner, that a living human cannot sing.
