I only wanted to buy the s7 to play a visual reality game because its so cool, but like a dumbass i went ahead and bought it from a craigslist user at a cheap price

later to find out that that phone was previously lost from its owner and that it was financed tru at&t and has not been fully paid off

the imei says its ready for activation, i factory rested it, and took out the sim card that was getting spammed with calls

whats gonna happen if i connect to to wifi and download games with it or put a net 10 sim card and get service for it, will it reveal the location to the owner ?

I just wanna play the visual reality games so badly i already bought the vr headset thing brand new at best buy

It will eventually be blacklisted so you can't activate it with Net10 or other carriers, but you should still be able to play games on it.

The phone might be stolen though, you may want to return it to AT&T.

Buying on Craigslist:

Meet your seller at the phone store and have them verify it's not stolen. Then have the phone transferred into your name while the seller is still there, after that they can't report it stolen.

How did you find out it had been "lost"? It's odd to sell a phone with a SIM in it in the first place, and you say that people were calling it - was that by any chance the real owner's SIM? Because it's clear that the person who sold it wasn't the owner, and whether they stole it or found it and sold it they are a thief either way and that phone is stolen goods.

And let's be honest, you know that it isn't legitimately yours because you are concerned about revealing its location to the owner (and you refer to them as the owner).

I think you are recipient of stolen goods. Why hide the phone's location from the guy who paid for it? Put the sim back and call back some of the numbers. The game is up.

I've never used craigslist but can't they help you get a refund, then you can return it to the person who has 'lost' it..?

Have you turned it on after factory reset? Weird that it didn't get FRP. Is it even a legit S7?

If the user removed the previous owners google account before factory reset then the issue wouldn't arise.

Craigslist is a free classified service they actually have no part or liability in the transaction.

Never mind guys the visual reality is not that awesome as it seems...

To be honest I sold the phone for a little bit more than the price that I got it for the imei still seems to be ready for activation...

Never again will I buy a phone straight up from a stanger like this lol

Thank you all for the help
