I bought the phone from my sister...help.

I already have T-Mobile so she sold me her G1 and now I have two questions.

1. Since I did not buy it directly from T-Mobile, am I still required to purchase the data plan? I'll only need the phone for calling and texting.

2. Does it cost to download free apps from the market?

Does your line already have a data plan? You'll need internet access to download stuff off the market.

No I don't have the data plan. I've been using wifi and it's been working just fine downloading the apps.
