I can't manually install 2.1

I've tried 4 times to manually update to 2.1, but nothing changes except I now have mobile defense, and google goggles. I haven't install either one of these aps. before. I have followed two different directions. The last one was on this site. If anyone might know what's going on please get back to me. Thanks. Oh but when I look through the settings, about phone it says 2.1 update. I don't know. Here's an update. After I restore my phone to the factory settings, I look at settings, about phone and it still says 2.1 update. What's up with this? Acouple of weeks ago I rooted my phone with the smoked glass rom, well I unrooted it so I could ota update it.

did you actually unroot it? the only way to unroot it. is to use the ruu. wiping the phone doesnt unroot it.

the only way to get the phone (in all aspects) back to factory. is to use the ruu for your specific phone/provider.

I rooted the phone following the video ( how to root your phone easy peasy)
and I unrooted it following his steps. Thanks for the reply
