I can't root my phone

EntreGold

Lurker
My phone stopped working so had to do a factory reset in order to get it to load, frustrated because I was under the impression I had lost data permanently. Trying to root my Lenovo B A2106a40 because I want to use data recovery software which says I need to root it first.

Spec OS 6.0 (Marshmallow) - Spent days scouring social media for information on how to root, downloaded so many apps that just didn't do the job, KingRoot being one of them, and a lot of the info online is just too complex, please, does anyone know of a way that actually works :-(

The dual sim version can be rooted, according to the model number you posted you have the single sim device. Not sure without digging deeper if the process would change any. The process for the dual sim does require a PC or Mac and fastboot boots the Twrp.img.

Leaving any current thoughts unwritten, don't need anyone bricking devices on my behalf.

Hi James, thank you for leaving a message, it's appreciated believe me. Yes it's the single sim version. I have a pc so that's not an issue.

If you can find anything please let me know

I'm not sure what Twrp.img are, will have to research this

Before rooting, you have to find a way to unlock the bootloader first, which requires a PC and the proper drivers. Otherwise, you'll soft-brick your device. You'll need a PC to root Marshmallow, as well. And KingRoot only works on Lollipop.

Revenant Ghost,
I appreciate your input on this, and to some extent understand what you're saying. It really is helpful information because when I placed search criteria with the term how to "root" Lenovo B A2016a40 in my browser I couldn't find what I was looking for.

Immediately after altering search to "How to Root, Unlock Bootloader and Flash TWRP IN Lenovo A2016a40" something came up, duh, silly me.

Well, I'm sure I did say somewhere on here that I'm learning.
Anyway, thanks again...
