I don't get it! (WiFi problems)

So the best way I can put this issue is like this; My phone gets jealous when I use my laptop, so it starts streaming/loading things faster when I'm on my laptop, while on wifi. If I'm NOT using my laptop, loading videos on Youtube is such a hassle. It will stop and load multiple times through out the video. But if the wifi from my house is also being used by my laptop, for some reason, it works perfectly.

Like today for example; I was listening to a podcast on TuneIn (with my laptop not being turned on at all), and the stream would stop and buffer every minute or 2. I turn on my laptop, to use it, and the podcast has been streaming non-stop for about 10 minutes straight. Its like my phone needs my laptop to use up wifi, in order to load content fast. Makes no sense to me.

It seems that your WiFi is using the laptop memory, how and why i have no idea and i could be way wrong. Just a guess. Another question do you have a dual band router? If so check to see what band you have the phone assigned to. Move it if needed.

It kinda sounds like your phone is connecting via WiFi to your laptop when it is on and your laptop is setup for Internet connection Sharing (ICS) to your home network.

Just a thought

Also I had the same issue with my WiFi buffering every 20-30 seconds watching Youtube vids.. I went and bought a Gigabit router (Had a 100MBPS router earlier) and that stopped the constant video stoppage for buffering.

Now it buffers ahead of the actual video being shown so no video freezing.
