This is my first time playing around with Android. I've currently been trying to figure out how to get Gingerbread. Could anyone point me into the right direction for that? Additionally I was thinking of overclocking, the possibility actually, since I believe you need a different kernel for that? would that then negate my need for gingerbread?

Overclocking in a stock rom is not possible but if you flash CM7 or Andro - ID there are overclocking kernels so.
