I got hit by a car...

Just hit, not run over thank God.

Happened last Tuesday. After the hospital I've been home ever since. Knocked me down with a blow to the back. Seemed like a ghost car to Me. I looked left nothing coming, then as I looked right BLAM! down on the ground. No broken bones or hopefully lasting injuries I think. But it seriously changed my life.
 
He did. God bless the inventor of ibuprofen. I feel like I'll be back to work tomorrow.

Anybody else ever been hit by a car on these forums
I know most of you drive but I'm looking for the pedestrian experience.

This would be a good thread for car hits too though. Car accidents I guess they should be called.
 
Never been hit by a car, thank goodness. And I think it would be a nightmare to hit someone while driving.

I've been hit several times as a driver, a couple times as a passenger, once on a motorcycle and I've even hit a car a few times on a bicycle, but not been hit as a pedestrian (that I recall).

So far, I've been lucky: no lasting damage from any of it.

@Fox Mulder No I didn't panic. But when the driver that was trying to help me up said "The trolley's coming" in a panicked voice I crawled faster than a 2 year old to get out of the street. Corner of Colburn Street and Huntington Avenue in Boston, Middle of the Huntington Avenue
 
i was hit as a predestrian ... walking across a gas station parking lot to my car.
A guy in an Accord rushing around the pumps to get to a free space... he was looking at the space, not what was ahead of him. Knocked me on to his hood then onto the ground.

Damn that hurt!... mostly.. i was ok.
but had some damage to my left elbow. there was some build up of stuff on the bone from in the area. It hurt when just leaning the elbow on a desk as i type. It took over a year for that buildup to get back to normal.

so.. you should get looked at by doc...

First of all, glad to hear that you are ok, it's never fun to get in the way of high speed metal.

I suppose you could say that I have, technically, been hit by a small lorry (about 3.5T). I was in Switzerland and crossing a three lane road at a pedestrian crossing. For those who have not visited Europe (or the parts that have these crossings), this type of crossing is just marked by white lines panted on the road with no accompanying lights (although in some countries there are unlit street signs above head height). Since cars are required to stop, two lorries in lanes 1 and 3 stopped and I started walking. Just as I was about to cross into lane 2 a lorry shot between the two stopped vehicles and right in front of my face. I raised my hands defensively and had the skin removed from my knuckles. If I had started walking a second earlier... I guess it must have been shock, but I was completely dazed by the experience and it was a while before I could think all that clearly again.

About the same time, one of my friends was out walking with his wife. When crossing the road they were both hit. He was badly banged up and his wife didn't make it. Life is painfully unfair sometimes, I guess you have to celebrate the times that it is more forgiving!
