I gotta get that offa there!

I really need to remove this hard case from the S5. I have posted pictures of it elsewhere on AF. it seems to be a very good case, but right now it's keeping me from doing much of anything with the phone. Will someone please tell me how to remove it? I saw a video about taking a case off by using two credit cards or something similar as a kind of wedge. I might try it, but I don't want to damage the case and definitely not the phone.

That's the same video i just found!
I should of just hit play.
@Rgarner with the back of the case facing you look on the top left side corner to release the back. The rest should be much easier once you get the back off.

I think I see a slot near the upper left, but I can't pry it open. What do I need, a crowbar? Maybe a dime would work...

I checked out both the video and the Amazon thing. Unfortunately, neither was much help. I guess I'll just try to find a dime and open it with that,

My God, it actually worked! I got my phone back, $80 saved from oblivion! For the record, in case somebody else needs to know, take a dime and stick it in that slot on the upper left, not quite near the top. Then push gently out with it (not in) to remove the bumper. That's all there is to it, no fancy video needed. It even had 87% charge left! Of course there's still a little problem. The original (waterproof) back was apparently lost years ago and I'm understandably a little gunshy about putting the Unity back on it. I also have to find out if it's going to charge properly. I am typing this from the S5 itself and not the laptop as I had been doing since it seemingly broke. I guess it's imported what I asked it to over to the pc. Should I try to charge it without the case, or put the case back on and try to charge it, or what?

The problem was actually the battery holder inside the case. I guess it somehow got loose and was messing with the ability of the contacts of the battery and the phone to connect. I tried to fix that with no luck. Now I'm just using the case without the inside holder.

I found the part about changing visuals for best performance. It did say administrator only, but since I am administrator, it should work. I clicked on ok for that. Should I try defragging the hard drive? How would I do that? It's only about half used, but I guess that might not have much to do with it.

Well, it happened again. The battery somehow managed to get loose again. This time the dime didn't work and I had to use tweezers. I don't know what I'm going to about that. I don't want to leave it with no back at all. Is there a good cheap case that I could use until I can get a better one?

Not an option on Android, windows yes, not Android.

It's only about half used,
Not clear on what you are referring to....what is half used?

What about putting the o.e. battery in the device, then fill the space between the battery with some folded up paper or something, then put the old back on.
Until then, here is a back cover option:

I'm sorry I wasn't clear about that. I meant the pc's hard drive is about half full. That shouldn't have any effect on performance, right? It still might need defragging, though. I've had it about a year but didn't get wifi until this summer. I wonder if that could be part of the ptoblem. It seems the Internet is slow on both the phone and pc. Is there any way to boost that? When the guy installed it he had to go all the way over to the highway to get it done. It took maybe one hour. It is secured and I guess nobody else has the password.

Perhaps you should start a new thread about that issue so folks won't get confused with multiple topics in the same thread yes?. :)
