I understand why Android are called Smartphones but answer me this.

What exactly makes iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Phone Smartphones?

I just don't see what makes them so smart? Nothing about them are smart

I believe it is the fact that they perform more actions in a better fashion than dumbphones. (Browsing, apps, GPS, etc etc)

I would venture a guess that it's their ability to access the internet that gives them their smart rating. I don't think there is an aptitude test these phones must pass to obtain a certificate of smartness. Smart phones require/need some sort of data plan or wifi net access... dumb phones don't.

a smart phone is a phone that is smart, all old school phones were dumb, now they are smart and do cool things like download apps, listen to music, etc..
I'm not sure when phones became smart, I forget the year :)

smartphones have network connectivity, ability to run apps,etc...

iPhones are pretty smart. I use my to manage multi-million dollar servers through VPN. I manage mySQL, Oracle, Postgres databases as well as manage DNS records for about 50 servers, control firewalls and access our CISCO routers. I also use it to sniff network packets and check for network intrusion.

My work life has been very thankful for the ability to work remotely and not tied to a laptop wherever I go.

So what is your definition of a smart phone or you just trying to be funny?
