Why is it that my phone makes sounds when I'm playing games/on the internet and flash advert comes on even though it's on vibrate/silent???
any way I could make this not happen? so like if I'm in class and my phone is on vibrate/mute I can be 100% sure that no sound will come out of it???

I agree this is annoying as hell for me too.

When you put the phone into silent mode it's not linked to your media volume hence why you put it on silent and yet games, flash still give sound. You just need to go into sound settings and turn media volume all the way down. There's quite a few roms out there that link them all up so if you set silent/vibrate its actually true silent/vibrant but it's up to if you want to flash/root your device.

On a side note Jelly Bean also has this problem so don't expect this problem to disappear any time soon.

I'm finding this annoying on my Galaxy Note running ICS, In my old HTC Desire when I get a notification even though it's on silent. On my Desire the main olume and the notification volume were linked but that doesn't seem to be the case on the Note. I don't want to root but is there any other way of making sure that silent actually means silent?
