Help i just got samsung gal5,s planner gives me troble

hi there,
i click on s planner,after it opens, top left corner only shows "today" and can not be chanched, touching it should show drop down menu but only makes little sound and nothing else happens. i can not enter more options like repet weekly or monthly. does anyone know what to do?

Is there not an arrow in the top right corner? Click that and tabs appear down the right hand side?
