I just had a thought...

With the ( ahem ) curious release of the Galaxy Nexus in the U.S. it would be interesting if the Transformer Prime was the inaugural ICS device in this country.

At least there is no exclusivity, that I am aware of, for the OS release.

I'm sure ASUS will get the ICS update out as soon as they can but there's no way it will beat the Galaxy Nexus to release, even with Verizon's repeated delays.

You can find stories where they are already working on ICS for the Prime and at 1 time, it was surmised the delay was to get ICS ready for it - but it just cannot come first as the Nexus must come ICS first to market.... and then all hell can break loose and ICS can flow free.

I would love to see it ICS out of the box, but with the Nexus delays and such, who knows. I just suspect ICS will come super quick to the Prime. ICS will be out, the Prime will be the gold standard tablet. Asus will want to get them together ASAP IMHO.

I cannot wait for this tablet... I don't have a pre-order for one so chances are I will have to wait a little while to get mine.

Hell, I can't wait to get my first android phone. I've been waiting for the release of the Galaxy Nexus for AT&T, but as that isn't a guarantee I might end up just picking up a GSII Skyrocket, though, I would really like ICS on my phone and I have no idea when that would be ready. I am certainly aware of the idea of getting a phone for what it is, not what it might be in the future... or whatever.

The Galaxy Nexus with ICS has already come out...just not in the US yet. ;)

So, ICS can go ahead and flow free.

yes, I naturally know ICS is out in Canada and parts of UK, etc, but we are talking USA. And the flagship Nexus ICS device is not available yet in USA and neither is ICS and the same for the Prime. So, just yet, for tablet makers, no I do not think it can flow free yet.
