Hey,

I loved my Ace.. minus the lack of a decent amount of RAM. So I like ..ed my Ace, until I went swimming, and didn't (for some unknown reason) know that it went with me..

No hope.. the salt water killed it.

So what to replace it with?

Any suggestions?

I like Samsung's phones, Don't care for Blackberry.. Just a replacement for the Ace.

One with RAM would be nice. :)

Later, Thanks

Haha, so a tip for everyone "the Ace can't swim...!!"
Well the options depend on your budget & what is available where you are. There is the Ace2, Ace Plus or S2 or S3 & plenty of others inbetween. :)

The 2011 Sony models are quite good, and are in the same budget league as the ace, but with way better hardware specs.
You can look into those if you are not too samsung specific, and they all just got AOKP.
Most are already running official ICS though.

Hi guys.. thanks for the replies.

Yes, I know.. it can't swim. Thank you for the reminder.

Thanks. I'll see about the Sony ones as well.

I would go with the new Galaxy Ace 2 definitely. It's hardware is not as good as a Galaxy SII or SIII but it is definitely a far better piece of hardware than the normal Ace. Besides, despite being a bit bigger than the old Ace, its still not that big (for me, that sucks) as the SII/SIII

Edit: On a side note, is the Android version something that really concerns you ? Because if you really want to use the latest Android 4.1 then you will probably get it by using a SII/SIII. I don't know if it will become available for the Ace2... although it should...

Thanks Emiliano55.

Once I can afford to replace my old.. wet phone. I'll look into each of the suggestions.

Latest Android o/s is not.. per se required.. how ever, if any apps I might consider are requiring the newer o/s then Yes. :)

Otherwise, cheap and functional, like the Ace appeared to be, until I went to install on it. :/

Later.

I am not sure whats better about ICS other than a different look, so far the only ICS app I am aware off is chrome.

CM 7.2 has a ICS style dialler amongst other things so is sort of semi ICS functionality.

Personally I would get an ace2 since it seems you like samsung, but if you do want ICS then you may have to pick a different model.

i found out that Sony Live (with Walkman) is much better in specs than Ace, the only negative point is its a little smaller screen (3.5 in of Ace vs its 3.2 in). if you can sacrifice that, i'd say go for this buddy. its awesome

I do happen to favor Samsung. Sony is good, as well, but seems to me you pay more for a name then a device.

Not sure the smaller screen size would make that big a difference, assuming the same resolution.

I'll have to look now. :)

Thanks again.
