I need help with my calendar notification!!!

Hey there. Can someone help me please?? I don't use the factory calendar that came with my s9. I downloaded one. The problem is, I CANNOT figure out how to turn off the stock calendars notifications!! I've tried EVERYTHING!! Every time it goes off, which is all day because I forget everything, my little Shitzhu freaks out! I can't even change the notification! The calendar app I downloaded, a+, syncs everything to my stock calendar and I can't avoid it. Can someone help me please???

Most calendar apps can show events added by other calendar apps as they are syncing with the same calendars (indeed there's usually one sync with the calendar account and the different apps are just different front-ends).

I don't have an S9, but I've never met a calendar app where you can't go into the app's settings and turn off notifications (some apps call them "reminders"). Since that's just turning off notifications for that specific app it doesn't stop the other app reminding you. Of course you can also change the notification tone for any of these apps as well. But it will be in the calendar app's settings, not the system settings (apologies if that's obvious, but we do get people who look through the system settings and never think to look at the app's settings, so I'm just making sure).

No problem. I have gone into the calendars settings many many times and there is nothing for notifications! It's the strangest thing I've ever seen! There is a choice for alerts or no alerts on things like events, and of course I chose no alerts on all of them. But they won't stop coming up! There is not even a way to choose the sound! I went in to system settings to try to disable calendar and I can't even do that! Can I send you a screenshot?

This is what I have done

And one of those screenshots seems to be saying that you have alerts off for events, all day events and birthdays, which you'd think would mean these were turned off.

Mad thought: are these alerts coming from that calendar app, or some other app called "calendar"? Just wondering whether the reason nothing is working is because it's a different app that's producing them - that would at least explain why none of this was making any difference. Maybe when one comes up click on it and see what app it takes you into.

If you want to stop notifications from the default Calendar app, don't bother with the Calendar app's settings but instead use your Settings menu.
Try going into Settings >> Apps, find and open the Calendar app listing, tap on 'Force stop', find and tap on 'Clear data', and then tap on 'Disable'. This should stop the Calendar app from actively running as a background process. At that point, it's no longer using your phone's system resources nor able to do any notifications.

Yeah it brings me to the calendar app that won't stop notifying me!!!

Yeah I went into settings, calendar, and clicked on force stop. Stopped it for a while, then it continued. The disable tab is whited out! Not able to tap on it!! Wtf??

Try restarting your S9 into its Safe Mode and see if you can use the Disable button:
https://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s9/safe-mode/
If you can access the 'Clear data' button try that too. Using Clear data will remove any config/settings files for the Calendar app, which should prevent it from being able to access your online Google Calendar info.
In the Settings >> Accounts >> Google menu, is the Calendar app still enabled to be syncing with your Google account?

Ok i'll try that thank you. Yes, when I unchecked the sync box for calendar, it unsynced my downloaded calendar too. Very aggravating.

Maybe try setting up the Calendar from scratch will work out.
-- While in Safe Mode, try using Clear data on the Calendar app, and hopefully you'll be able to use that Disable button. Also use 'Clear data' and then Uninstall that calendar app you prefer, and go into the Settings >> Accounts >> Google menu and disable syncing in the Calendar listing.
When you restart your S9 there shouldn't be any calendar app active, but confirm this in your Settings menu.

-- The calendar app you referred to earlier is 'aCalendar+', yes?

Install it again and see if you can now set it up as your default calendar.
