I need to know how I can edit an old text message that was sent earlier today. Please help me. I have an Android Samsung Galaxy J3.

Welcome to the site :)

By edit do you mean edit it so the updated version appears to be what was originally sent?

Texts are sent instantly so both the sender and receiver already have copies of it on their phone, there's no way to edit it unfortunately. You can delete the text off your phone, but not change it.

The receiver isn't the problem. It is my psycho boyfriend that I need to change the text before he sees it.

Unfortunately once you send a message using standard sms there is no way to "unsend" or modify the text. Whatsapp is working on new features to allow for just that, though.

Since texts can't be edited the only option would be to delete the text from your phone before he sees it (or delete off the other persons phone if he has access).

I am trying to use the WhatsApp and can't quite figure out how to accomplish editing an old text. Thank you for all your help.

The quick way is to delete or hide the text.

A convoluted way would be to use a backup app that backs up to XML, copy the XML to a computer (as this would be a fiddle on a phone), edit the relevant text in the XML backup, copy back to phone and replace all your texts with a restore from the edited backup. You would need plenty of time to do this (and a copy you hadn't modified in case you get something wrong). I doubt that is a practical solution.

l don't normally interfere with a stranger's relationships, but if any aspect of a relationship is a threat to your personal safety you need to get out and away.
