If when you say "remember position", you mean that you can stop listening to something and when you re-open the app, it allows you to continue listening where you left off, I currently use the BeyondPod app and it does this and more. It's not free, but, take a look at what all it can do. In my opinion, it's one of the best android podcast apps available. I know you stated that you didn't want another podcast manager, per se, but, the only way I feel that you will be able to accomplish what you are looking for, will be to install a full blown podcast manager app, replacing isyncr/itunes/Galaxy Note default app alltogether. You can still access/sync all your current podcasts directly on your device instead of on your computer. Hope this helps.
