I think ATT is going to try to go for 4g sometime before improving their 3g coverage

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if that happened because people are stupid and won't read the maps usually which is why verizon got sued. I think ATT would be a much better carrier if they fixed their crappy 3g coverage, personally.

I think AT&T underestimated the iphone and was caught off guard, and now 4g is coming faster than they are able to upgrade. they might as well get on with th 4g and keep up and continue catch-up with the 3G. no sense letting 4g get away from them. i thought the LTE was the next big thing for the deathstar?

well ATT made more money than verizon last quarter, but ATT network is crap. That just sounds kinda fishy to me, i mean i dont know all the details but it seems ATT maybe taking more money for themselves them putting it back into their network. They have made improvements, but who is to say that it actually works.

Regarding cell phone connectivity, it "typically" means the network connection from the towers to AT&T's internet infrastructure. I believe AT&T just commited to spending ~$5 billion (US) in upgrading their network infrastructure, following the announcement of Cisco's new CRS-3 Routers (line cards can easily/cheaply added to existing CRS-1 chasis):

- 322 TB/sec.
- DL entire Library of Congress in "1 second".
- Every movie "ever made" streamed in 4 minutes
- AT&T currently in trials with new equipment
- Google interested in using in test networks
- 12x capacity of competitor's routers
- Every person in China can make a VoIP call to each other all at the same time


I'm switching back to AT&T following stints with Verizon and T-Mobile as I get better reception "in certain buildings" with AT&T (MD/VA/PA). Gonna miss T-Mo's rates and 7Mb network though.
