I called my local Verizon store today
1. To ask if they had any Incredibles in stock
2. To see if I could do an annual upgrade to get one now instead of waiting for my NE2.

She said I didn't have an expensive enough calling plan to do a yearly upgrade. LAME. I looked online now and they have changed all their calling plans again. Right now my plan is 69.99 450 min, unlimited text and mobile web. They don't even have that anymore. It says I must have a calling plan that is $49.99 or more to get an annual upgrade .... so what qualifies?
 
Lol. Well it was just a suggestion. Sprint service here in Houston is great. Well, at least from the people I know with Sprint.
 
Sprint service does not suck everywhere, I assure you. In my area it is better than Verizon. Good for me since I can enjoy great service and the best prices.

Sounds to me like the solution to your problem is to get a more expensive plan to meet the criteria for a yearly upgrade. Why do you think they would upgrade you yearly when you have such an inexpensive plan?
 
Well in my world $69.99 is more than $49.99. I don't have a separate "calling plan" it's all one fee and it's $69.99.

... and why are there so many Sprint users in this Verizon forum anyway...?

If you've been on a calling plan of $44.99 or higher for 12 months, then you do qualify for an annual upgrade. There is a $20 fee and you get the 2 year pricing along with rebates. No Ne2 credit though.

Call back in and find out how long you've been on your existing price plan and the last time you did a device upgrade/switch. I have seen cases where the incorrect code was used during a device swap and it messed up the upgrade dates, so find a helpful rep and research it.

Never hurts to compare with the other guy. I'm not opposed to switching to Verizon if they ever had comparable prices and coverage in my area.

Sorry if I confused you on plan price though. Sprint is cheaper for the plan that I want, which is unlimited text and data, plus more talk minutes than I can use. A comparable plan on Verizon would cost me over $100 for 1 line.
 
I guess I'm just confused on which calling plans qualify. I've had the same plan since I upgraded last. It was the end of last May. When I called I asked her once it's been one year shouldn't I be able to upgrade and she said no because my calling plan didn't qualify.

On the Verizon website it just says the 'calling' plan has to be over $49.99 ... so if my plan is $69.99 why do I not qualify? I guess they should be more specific ... or whoever I spoke with didn't know what they were talking about.

Sorry for the Sprint snarky-ness ... just in my experience ... or at least the experience of the people I know who have had/tried Sprint have not had very good coverage.
I've been with Verizon for almost 8 years and have never had a problem with spotty coverage and I don't want to switch to someone who does.

Exactly.

I'm currently with Verizon, and thinking of switching to Sprint. And for the exact reason i VTAK mentioned above. It's not for the quality of Verizon, but because Verizon just seems way more expensive than the other carriers (I had AT&T before, but have never had Sprint). Sprint seems to offer the quality closest to Verizon, but with much lower prices.

Of course, everywhere you go...you're going to hear differently. I've talked to some people with Sprint who love and swear by it...while I've talked to others who have nothing good to say about it at all. Same for Verizon, and AT&T, and T-Mobile, etc., etc.

My only problem with going Sprint is that "right now", from what I understand, they are the only telco in the "world" moving to the "WiMax" technology. I'm not sure how feasible international travel will be going forward, with the newer handsets.

Nah, it's warranted. We get a lot of people defending the honor of Sprint in here for whatever reason. When I got to a Sprint forum, I am getting information about Sprint's service and I don't feel the need to tell everyone about the consistent service I get from VZW nationwide.

I'll also be the first to kick VZW into the pit while yelling "THIS IS SPARTA!" if they fail me or I can get the exact same thing significantly cheaper.

Call VZW back and explain to them that someone else in that organization needs to help you out because they are not applying the policies correctly.
 
Actually what you can do is create a new line for ten bucks a month and get the incred on that line purchased at discount price. Pay for the incred for a one year contract then have them switch phone numbers. After a year of paying ten more a month cancel the line you created. Have them put a dummy esn on the line you are not using.

This. I like to be "in the know" and an "informed consumer".

Just because I use, (and support btw) one brand, doesn't mean I'm not open to the other options out there. I'm not apple, after all.
 
To answer the OP's actual question:

They remove the text and web when considering your "calling" plan. That would be 69.99-9.99-20 = 40.

40 < 49.99.
