Root I Want OTA Updates

In order to receive updates, you have to be running the stock rom, stock recovery, and have the stock kernel, bootloader, & radio modems that match the rom you're running. Frozen system apps can also cause ota's to fail upon installation. You can be unlocked and you can be rooted, but stock recovery must still be installed.

TWRP can still install an OTA, but itll be replaced by the stock recovery the next time you boot.

Personally, I'd say you DONT want OTA's

The developers will have a stock rooted ROM you can flash from recovery that contains all of the new bits from the OTA before you'll get it the normal way with your phone. An OTA can take weeks to roll out.

Just another benefit of being rooted

While generally true, this isn't always true. Sometimes they break things in the early stages of a brand new os update. For example 4.1.x to 4.2.x.

So I kept stock recovery and didn't root until the 4.4.1 update. Sideloaded the update then went custom recovery, root, and Franco kernel. Can I flash stock recovery, sideload the 4.4.2 update then reflash CWM, and reroot?

I was trying to stay stock for a while but do root and kernels for now. Updating stock seems a bit annoying.

Is there just a flashable zip of the new update somewhere?
