Hello, In March I acquired the LG Optimus F3 and have not been able to upgrade almost since I bought it. I purchased an 8 gb microsd card not realizing that hardly anything can be transferred to it. I am looking now for a different phone with more internal memory or will let me place apps on the microsd card. I cannot afford a Galaxy. Any ideas? Thank you all.

The OS is what is limiting the move to SD, so you can blame Google for that one. If you are rooted then that can be sidestepped. As for a new phone for not a fortune, the Moto G line are about the most bang for the buck around. The non LTE version comes in 8 or 16GB, but no option for expanding with a SD card. The LTE version only comes in 8GB but it does have a SD card slot allowing you to add 32GB more. On all, the OS is almost the most up to date as you can get and it is supposed to be upgraded to the L version once available. That also does mean that the 8GB is all you get for system storage on the LTE, but that is quite a bit and is fine for most people. I have it and use the SD for music and photos mainly.

I'll jump in here and say that I got the 16 Gig HSPA+ version and had a little over 12 Gig available to use. I get some nice speeds as well, so don't have any complaints about not waiting for the LTE version. Location is important though, so you should be sure of what technology will do you best.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I can get the moto g for noost or verizon prepaid for around $80. I know this is a metro forum, but I was wondering why not just switch to one of those carriers? I live in SW FL and metro is pretty good here but spotty in some places, such as around Marco Island and maybe one of these other carriers will work better. I know many people with Verizon who get reception everywhere. Until now I did not realize they had prepaid. Again, thank you for your replies.

I also live in sw fl. North naples area and yes t mobile coverage is spotty in places i agree. Verizon coverage is outstanding here but keep in mind you do get what you pay for. Verizon prepaid can be more expensive with data and there data is hard capped meaning once you reach your limit thats it unless you buy more. No network data no picture messages no anything that requires data. Just text and talk. There cheapest prepaid plan is 45 a month and thats for 500 mb of data and thats all you get. 500 mb. They dont throttle you after that they cut off your data. Now you can buy more data at 10 bucks a gb. Or 20 bucks gets you 3 gb. I would suggest you look into cricket also. They have unlimited data its just throttled down after you reach whatever limit your plan has on it. Crickets owned by att and uses there network and in swfl att coverage matches verizon. It is a little more for the phones on cricket but you do make that up with cheaper monthly costs if you do use data. I wouldnt suggest boost at all here. If you think metro/tmobile coverage is spotty you dont want to mess with sprint. Especially on a moto g. Its 3g only and sprints 3g network here is awful.

I am also in SWFL. I live in the Cape and work in NoFo. The switch to the GSM network has been an improvement over the Metro CDMA. I know people with Verizon and they do have good service, but they really are the most expensive. As for the phone itself, the one from them can only be used with Verizon. If you get the unlocked one it is more upfront, but you can switch to any with that network technology. For example, I can use mine with any GSM/LTE network such as Metro, T-Mobile, etc. There is also a CDMA unlocked version, which is what I believe Verizon is, but that one does not offer LTE. Basically, one thing to remember is that if you buy from the service provider, then it is probably locked into only that provider. Buy an unlocked one if you want the flexibility to move, but be careful to get the one with correct system technology.

thats what i like about sprint is despite being CDMA you can use their devices on a lot of MVNO's like ting or ringplus. since sprint devices tend to be the cheapest out of teh big 4 and i have great sprint coverage (you can check with stuff like sensorly.com) i can pick up cheap sprint flagships and use em on a subcarrier pretty easily :D.

the only one that i was really interested in but could justify the price in checking out was republic wireless. 25 bucks for unlimited everything is a nice deal, beats out my current 25 a month for unl calls/texts and a gig of data on framily :P.

if you are considering switching carriers i would checking out possible coverage, in my area there wasnt great data on att but i was able to guess where teh towers were by figuring out the circles and where the center would be and what i could expect.

The only place around marco metro/tmobile service is bad is on 951 heading to the island once your on the island service is pretty good. I know the old metro cdma service was pretty awful on marco but t mobile isnt to bad.

I also live in SW Fl in Naples close to 951 the new GSM network is very fast here is what I am getting at home and this is pretty much the low end of the spectrum here in Naples. Gotta love the metro unlimited data plan I don't even pay for cable. :D

That upload is pretty low but some areas of 951 are close to dead spots. I live off imokolee road and its the same. My speeds are a lil bit better though. Best spot in naplea ive seen is off pine ridge. Theres a tower back there in the industrial park and speeds are amazing all on pine ridge.

Before even trying to get another phone, I think there is an app that allows you to store more of a programs info on the SD then just the "Move To SD" feature built in the the phone. I have an F6 and suffer from the same issue, but I'm on my cell now so don't have the bookmark I have on the pc to the program. I think it was called link2sd, but there is also another program. It's not a complete fix, but does allow more info to be stored on the SD instead of the internal memory. I'll be installing after I root. Trevor knows of the program.
