Help I would like some advice on Xiaomi phones, please.

Hi everyone,

I hope I'm posting in the right section!! I'm Villy and I am quiet clueless when it comes to phones. I'm an Australian living in Italy and my Samsung s7 died at the start of the lockdown so I've been without a phone for a few months.

I have been reading reviews on some phones, but to be honest I feel more confused than I was when I started. I am looking for a phone below or around the €500 mark with a good amount of storage (is 6G - 128 GB okay?), with a good camera, bis screen, preferably a headphone jack, NFC, decent battery, Android 10 (Q) or 9.0 Pie, battery capacity of 4OOOmAH, unlocked, AMOLED display and I like curved corners. To be honest, I am not 100% sure what all of that means, but I think that's what I want.
I have been looking at the Xiaomi Mi 9t Pro (though hard to find!) and the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro. Does anyone know which is the better phone, please?

I also saw on the Mi Italia site something called a POCO F2 Pro. As I don't really know what the hell I'm talking really open to any suggestions, even other brands.

But you might want to just use GSM's phone finder yourself, enter your preferences, and then work from the resulting list

Don't forget to account for availability in Italy and compatibility with your chosen carrier service. (Unlocked models are much more widely compatible, especially ones with multiple, varied size SIM slots, but not 100% universal.)

The phones are quite nice, but Xiaomi have been naughty in the past storing users' ,browsing history and data (including private browsing) if you use the default browser apps https://www.knowyourmobile.com/featured/are-xiaomi-phones-safe/. If I had a Xiaomi phone, I'd use Firefox as my browser (After enabling DNS over HTTPS) and DuckDuckGo as my default search engine.

Aaah, this is amazing, thank you. I really am rather lost. Someone told me to buy the Note 8 pro today and now I am even more confused.
 
Don't buy a phone just because someone said to. Look though GSMArena or @svim's list of Xiaomi phones, decide what's most important to you and maybe choose the one that ticks most boxes, or go for the best Bang for the Buck.

Don't let yourself get caught up in 'buyer's remorse'. We all do to some extent.

The reality is, no matter what phone any of us buy, there's always a better option that was available at a cheaper price. That's just a given. So give some serious thought into what you need in a smartphone, shop around, and then just buy the damn thing. Once you have in your own hands and start setting it up, you can forget about the rest.

You're right, of course, but I am have to take a lot of photos of artwork for my research to document things, I need a good camera and a fair bit of storage so I'm always worried I will make a mistake because I don't really know enough about phones. I was worried if I buy the 8 Pro it might be out of date as the 10 Pro just came out. And now you know why I have been without a phone for four months.
