Root i9000 Can't get into HBOOT

So my friend rooted and flashed CWM on his Galaxy S i9000, then he wasnt happy so he tried to restore the old backup. It gave him an error, now the phone is stuck in bootloop. The problem is that he cant get back into HBOOT either because Power+Vol UP+Home doesnt work. Any ideas guys?

Well if buttons don't work.... Button combo is out of the question.
Next thing I would try a jig. If that doesn't work let me know.

Does it go into download mode.. Use Odin software (sometimes recovery does not work but download mode does)
