Help Icecream Sandwich on Galaxy S3 frustrations

I can't set a homepage for my internet browser. When I go into bookmarks and touch the bookmark, google.com, on the right hand side it brings up a menu. I hit the option 'set as homepage'.
But when I exit and return to internet all I get is a blank page.
Also, there seems to be no 'home button' at the top of whatever page I'm browsing.

There is no home button on Android browsers by default. Some 3rd part one shave them.

Also, you are never exiting the browser so it wont load your homepage. It just loads the last page visited.

You can close the current tab and load a new tab and that will load home. Or just load it from the bookmarks each time
