Help Icon colors are lost

hstroph

With Android 12 on a Pixel 6, I had a bunch of apps update recently, and noticed that some icon color is now missing from my display, such as in the attached screenshot.

Settings -> Display -> Colors has no affect on the lack of icon colors.

Please advise about how to restore the icon colors? Thank you.

IS your phone in dark mode? What about the whole 'material you' thing that uses your wallpaper to change widget/icon colours? I noticed your search widget also has this look.

Or maybe **shudder** perhaps that's a new flat UI theme for Google's own apps? Scary thought.

Try uninstalling the updates and see if it reverts back. Settings-->applications-->Manage Applications-->three dot menu-->Show system-->select Chrome (or other apps) and then tap the three dots in upper right again and select 'uninstall updates'

If that reverts the look then my scary thought has come true. Thank goodness I'm immune since my phone is 11 years old.

Thank you, while exploring the options you suggested, I disabled "Themed icons (beta)" in Settings -> Wallpaper & style, and colors were restored to the icons, as per attached screenshot.
