Icon help please.....

Hi! I have a couple of icon questions. I'll start this post by stating -- I'm new to this whole world! LOL

If I have a non-rooted phone can I even change the icons? If so, do you have a link with directions (icons for dummies maybe??)?

Install Desktop Visualizer v1.0.3 Application for Android | Tools

From your home screen: Menu>Add>Shortcut>Desktop Visualizer

From here select the Icon, the Action (App), and the Lable (what you want it to say under the icon)

Click Ok

You can either create and icon yourself in .png format ... or save some of the icons posted on this site and others ... or download icon packs from the market.
