Icon on status bar

Hello all just recieved my Tattoo, this is an upgrade from the iphone then the blackberry 8900 which both broke. so far i am loving it and set emails, facebook and twitter up.

I do have a question that I cannot answer from the manual. in the top left of the screen in the status bar i have a symbol of a person with a cirlce (looks like the circle when refreshing twitter or emails etc). i cannot work out what this means, I do not have any unread notifications and my friend does not have this symbol on his tattoo.

I think that this item is a facebook update. Well this what I get when I follow it. If you open the status bar (touch it and then drag it down) you can then select the icon and it will take you directly to it. Or you can just press clear to get rid of the icon on the bar ( well at least until someone else updates there status).
