Icons appearing on home screen

Hello. I'm sure there are threads on this, and I apologize. I couldn't properly word a search string! My problem is when I use a program, the icon of the program appears and stays on my home screen. Is there any way I can disable this? Thanks. --Jim

Is it one of those apps that automatically creates a short-cut icon to itself when you run it, and there's already an icon for it in the app-draw for all installed apps? Because the developer thinks they're doing you a favour. If it's something the app does, you might not be able to disable it. In which case it might be worth emailing the app's developer about it.

Amazon Appstore App does this exact thing, but, the shortcut is easily removed w/a press & drag to the trashcan.
If the app will not allow you to remove the icon from your desktop,it's a sure bet it's Malware.Uninstall it yesterday......

Thanks Mike and kolio. Mike, I think it's a feature where the phone tries to "learn" what apps you use most frequently and customizes your phone accordingly. I just know what I want on my home screen and what I don't, which is why I'd like to disable it. Kolo-- yes, I can delete them, but its rather skip that step and not have them there at all.

I'm guessing this feature can be turned off somewhere in the main settings of the phone.
It's been a few months since I've had an M9,I can't remember exactly where the setting is.
Also, check the Google Play Store settings, there's one that does this exact function, easy as turning it off.

Hi Swami2806, when I first had my M9 I seem to remember this happening and I think @KOLIO is right about the settings which I think can be found in the 'Setup' app which you will find in the app drawer. There is a setting that I disabled (Share my personal usage data) when I was setting up the phone initially and I'm pretty sure that stopped it happening - it's worth a try :).
