ICS Hijack/Virus?? Cannot access any google site.

I have a Digix TAB730 (Cheap throwaway tablet) running 4.0.4

It has worked great for the year I've had it.

Starting today, I cannot access any site related to google. Even google.com in chrome and built-in browser.

If I try to open google from a browser, it gives me:

"The site's security certificate is not trusted!"

This happens from any subset google site as well (maps.google.com, play.google.com etc)

I cannot access gMail or the Play Store either through their apps, it gives me an authentication error.

The only thing I can think of is some kind of DNS hijack or virus on the tablet. Has anyone heard of this as a possibility?

I have not had the tablet on the internet for about 3 months. Today was the first time I've connected it since July.

I have not installed any new apps since March or so.

Any ideas on where to start would be appreciated. I'd prefer not resetting it to factory settings.

Check the clock and calendar are correct, that's a frequent cause of certificate authentication problems. If it hasn't been online for three months, and if you haven't been using it, the clock and calendar may well be completely wrong.

You, sir, are correct. Thanks very much. I feel like a moron for not checking the clock. It had reset itself to 2010.

Everything back to normal. Thanks again Mike!
