ics update - what will happen?

Hi guys, i have an arc s and have noticed the ice cream sandwich update is available. What i was wondering is, will i lose anything on my phone when i update it?

The reason i ask is i had an x10 last year and when it had a new software update i updated the software and it wiped everything off my phone and i was gutted. So I'm a bit scared of doing this in case it happens again.

So if anyone would be able to let me know i would really appreciate it.

I didn't lose anything but I backed everything up just in case.

back up everything for security reason... i haven't lose anything when i upgraded it to ICS... it's working perfectly for few weeks... after that things goes wrong, phone is lagging, the screen freezes most of the time, back light is turning on and off even you're not touching it... so that's why i downgrade it to gingerbread again...

Upgraded mine today and so far so good - did not lose anything at all and everything seems to be working fine - Not sure how it'll turn out in the days to come but yea for now its all good -
