Idiot needs help setting up his wowway email

Hi. I am sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it anywhere using the search tool

I have tried searching for this and can't seem to get an answer. I am trying to set up my droid to get email from my wowway.com account. But I can't get it past the "checking incoming server settings" screen. It repeatedly gives the message, "Unable to open connection to server. I have tried the few things I could find on google but nothing is working. Any help resolving this would be appreciated.

Do you have the proper settings, are you using IMAP, POP3? details!

You need to set the IMAP/POP3 server, that would be supplied by the email supplier.

I am using POP3 I believe. Brinkley's instructions worked for the incoming part of the setup. Now when it goes to the outgoing it gives me the same message.

I went and got the POP3 info from here:

AnswersThatWork's famous ISP List - WOW! Incoming Mail POP3 server and Outgoing Mail SMTP server, and DNS settings

And I entered it on the outgoing server settings as it was put there, however I still get the "Unable to open connection to server" message.

I didn't see anything asking for an encryption key

They don't cover it in their reference guide http://content.wowway.com/Documents/WOWWAY/PDFs/HSD/InternetReferenceGuide.pdf but it's very common for ISP's to either require login to use their SMTP servers when not on their network or to simply not even allow use of their SMTP servers while not connected through them (as antispam measures). I'd suggest calling their support line to verify. Or Google wowway and SMTP.
