Elon Musk has done us oh so very proud! 
If I was Elon Musk I would buy a massive crypto currency farm in Iceland (extremely low electricity costs and I think it also has very low tax rates AND it is very cold so you don't have to waste electricity on cooling methods for your farm to prevent over heating!) and then with the new insane amounts of cash flow coming in from the massive crypto currency farms being generated I would then open up a Health research facility for various cancers and all kinds of health issues that have not been solved yet - all in a very low tax haven area of the planet with general low running costs for labor and electricity etc but with relatively good infrastructure.
It will need to be a attractive / gorgeous location so that those who have not got very long to live in the research center will be very tempted to move there so that experiments can be done on their rare cases or not yet solved medical problems.
I would call my very special research center "Halo" because it is trying hard to make a little mini Heaven on earth
Maybe I would choose Mauritius as my destination of choice - extremely low taxes and very stable government (but electricty cost is high there due to diesel being imported for their generators so might make Iceland the crypto currency generating destination) .
It is a gorgeous place so those who don't have long to live will be more attracted to give their rare disease / virus (or any other rare health issue) to the research center to further advance mankind's knowledge to better combat all kinds of health issues because they won't have too much time left on the earth so it will be very attractive to them.
If I was Elon Musk I would also start research on a plant / shrub (any type of vegetation that will work) that is capable of terraforming Mars!
It would have to survive extremely cold temperatures and extreme weather conditions.
Just copy Mar's environment and see what you can try and come up with!
Imagine having to go to mars and not even requiring any equipment to breathe air!
But actually living on Mars might be extremely difficult because the gravity is so low any human born on Mars may never be able to go to Earth because he / she might die from the far stronger gravity here compared to Mars.

i would be pushing envelope of what we already have tech for... just making it better.
Black Matter.. anti-matter... that is just quantum leaps of tech in many fields...
it is 100 yrs away or more before the public can benefit from it.
Hyper loop travel... that is what would be a game changer..
that current tech can support.
it only needs engineering focus.. and backing of gov and $$$
