If you already own the Edge, would you upgrade to the Note 7?

Nope, not worth the upgrade imo, would never use the stylus, hardware is the same bar larger screen which is too large as a phone for me, iris scanner (would prefer to keep fingerpints anyway), and the battery is smaller.

Similar thread ongoing at Android Central, and majority picked the S7E still. There's really not much point in doing so.

I would assume they kept the specs the same between phones so people don't hold off buying the S8 next year thinking the Note 8 would just be better overall. They want their money now.

My thoughts exactly. I've owned Notes 3 and 5 before and never used the stylus. And yes, I prefer the fingerprint reader than the Iris scanner. And as someone said here, the S7E battery is slightly bigger too.

I've been looking at both a lot as I'm currently on a note 4 and due an upgrade. The iris scanning I've read could potentially be useless as it may not work well with glasses or contact lenses. I've never used the stylus on my note 4 to any degree so I can't see that changing. Really not sure I can justify the extra cost based on that. Definitely see me getting the s7 edge and I did love the look of that phone very early on.

Iris scanning will also be useless in the dark!

For what I can gather, the screen on the N7 is slightly bigger compared to S7 Edge (only about 0.2 inches bigger).

As you are due your upgrade, I would wait until the N7 is being sold in the shops to compare price differences then make your decision afterwards, but unless you are a heavy stylus user, then there isn't too much difference between the two.
