Ill-tempered sea bass - or bad apps?

Ok I am on my second Razr Maxx HD in 5 days. Both have suffered the same problem after I reinstalled (auto reinstall) over 100 of my apps from Play Store.

After exactly 1.5 days, the device goes into an irreconcilable power cycle routine from which the only recovery is factory reset. This, of course, happens after I have spent 5 or 10 hours setting up my pages and dock bar to my liking.

Some specifics: not rooted (though now thinking I should be!). Running Apex Launcher, some direct dial screen shortcuts, Be Weather, Touchdown Pro HD for email and scheduler, Pure Grid calendar widget, three dock bars with Apex, and a few screens, a custom wallpaper, etc, and a replacement circle widget that no longer appears in my installed apps google play account - weird.

Also have run recently a few LED managers to little avail.

Is ANYONE else out there running any of these apps experiencing power recycle problems from which you cannot recover?

I just factor reset again and am going to install only APEX launcher - I think it may be the culprit. Tomorrow I return the phone for a refund minus restocking fee and go back to ...... please forgive me everyone..... my Bionic.

I will wait this one out to see if the kinks get worked out in the next few months.

Happened to me using doubletwist... Twice. I haven't reinstalled doubletwist and now I've been doing good for a week almost

Are you using stock launcher or third party? I have boot looped on both apex and nova. Trying to run only stock apps plus nova now. Stay tuned

Been using holo hd... DoubleTwist was definitely the culprit for me, as soon as I tried to open it the boot loop would start.

Haven't had an issue with Nova here. Had it running before I left the Verizon store on launch day.

If you figure it out, please do post back. I'd like to know what it is.

Will definitely post. Google boot loop for other site threads on this issue. Was also problem with maxx but diagnosis was different. Neither verizon nor Motorola have any clue.... go figure.

I'm running DoubleTwist with no reboots. I am not using a third party launcher. Just trying to help but if this isn't helpful I'll back out.

This is helpful. I have seen more double twist posts on web than anything else. I may try installing now just to test myself..
.boot loop here I come.

you're running a ton of apps. you're now on your 2nd phone with the same apps and the same problems. and your question is if the phone is faulty or maybe 1 of the 100+ apps is the problem?

it could be the first one, the last one, one of the middle ones, or a mixture therein. do exactly what you're doing - wipe the phone, download the preinstalled app updates, test. if working ok, download a couple apps and test. if working ok... etc. if stops working at some point, have to assume the last app or 2 is the problem. boot in safe mode and delete them, then restart and test again.

HIGHLY unlikely that you've had 2 phones with the exact same issues and it's the phone that's the problem. possible, but not likely.

my guess is that the app dev hasn't worked out the kinks in their app for use on this phone. a buddy of mine has the razr m and has had no problems with all the crap he's loaded.

Two days with Nova and no loops. Also loaded Be Weather, HD widgets, Pure Grid Calendar, and a few icon packs. All ok so far. I agree that boot loop is probably not to hardware but the first one happened on day one of paying full price (under contract) for razr HD so I felt justified in getting a replacement. I am content with systematic approach being followed. Also - good to know you can uninstall from safe mode.

I've had my Maxx since the release day, installed Nova and Apex to test them both, and currently have it set to Apex. I haven't had a single problem.
