I have a prepaid Samsung illusion from wall mart. How do i root this and what is root even.can anyone break me down with simple English. I have never rooted anything I'll even pay or return the favor in some way of anyone can give me a whole root break down

Could one of you just break me down on rooting. What are the do's and don't s i have read a little on this but i need someone to first hand answer my questions. What are the benifits of rooting and what should i not do so i don't brick my phone. Thank you for responding sorry for being so much of a rookie i just want to learn
