It is not frowned upon unless it is excessive. Dropping a helpful "in-house" link is ok but dropping it everywhere you go will look a bit spammy... I'm sure you understand. By the way, once you establish yourself here as a member in good standing and amass a post count of 25 you can place a useful link in your signature.
