thanks to the wonderful threads on here i have found everything i need to unroot the spectrum, and i am so thankful for all of that however... the laptop and desktop both say that all the files are invalid once they download... i have to get this thing unrooted so i can send the phone off to the person who bought it bc they asked for it to be back to factory.. which sucks bc ill be out 250 bucks! but i dont want to sit on the phone as i wont be going back to it... any suggestions?

the errors i am getting are on the computer when i try to download the file, not sure if im not getting it all due to my crappy internet or what i have going on for sure, thats the thread i have been using Neph81 has been awesome in helping, i cant get even far enough to get the files to put them onto my phone, like i said im so frustrated its not even funny
Can you give a specific example of what errors you are getting? Is it when you try and open the .zip files in Windows or a different error.
u need to unzip file and,then move it sd card. it's in the directions if u follow them. download 7zip and use that.
How big is the file you are working with? The v4_stock.zip should be 724,191,279 in size. If not, then your download is most likely getting dropped mid way thru.

Are you using windows 7? If you are, can you try the following:
- Open your Downloads Folder using Windows Explorer
- Right-click on v4_stock.zip
- Select 'Properties'
- Go to 'Checksums' tab
- Copy the values after "MD5" and let us know what you see.
If your internet connection is very slow or intermittent, try using Orbit downloader:
Orbit Downloader - CNET Download.com
I found with my old XP machine that sometimes I had to switch browsers from Chrome to Firefox or IE.

I think its best if you verify the MD5 hash to make sure you have a clean download: MD5: 8f092bfb0e817489e52307c43a3beead
Can someone else confirm the MD5?

Download the files with your phone and use root explorer to unzip and place the folders where they need to be... that may be slightly easier for u...

you can switch your sim back. Thats the beauty of a smartphone, as long as it's the same carrier your sim card will work in any phone you put it in.
but to answer your question yes you can use wifi.
downloaded the folders directly to my phone using the above mentioned app.. and went in and tried to follow all the steps that Neph81 listed, when i went into v4_stock to start it said that no files could be found. clearly i am not tech savy enough to do this. i dont understand what i am missing, i have tried everything that has been suggested on many different computers now, had a friend try to download everything and the v4_stocl file failed multiple times.
Honestly, at this point, you may just be better off using this method. It's normally a last ditch move, but it sounds like you are at that point right now.

yes, if the md5 does not match, you would need to download the file again. maybe you can try the wifi somewhere else...cafe, library, panera etc?

i get a 619mb file, i shouldnt be behind a firewall i have been on personal internet and it has never had any set up, thank you Neph81 i am working on that now, im sure my issue in our internet, we have wildblu internet and it sucks! but sadly where we live its out only optopn. again thank you guys for all your help
okay another issue (maybe the whole problem?) i redownloaded the drivers and then plugged it in and put it into debugging modeand when it goes to find the new hardware it asks for a disk and then when i click on i dont have the disk it goes into check for a solution and it says it cant find anything.. is there a way around this?
