iMac won't recognize GS6 in Finder

Can anyone tell me why my iMac won't "see" my S6 under "Devices"? I know Samsung and Apple don't play well. Is this a common problem and is there a way to fix it?
When I plug the phone into a USB port, the phone charges, but the computer doesn't see it.

The S6 just charges by default when connected to USB. Pull down the notification shade and choose the connection option that you need and it should pop up on your Mac.
