Help imei

On the Samsung Galaxy S6 with its sealed case, where do you find the imei? I looked under Settings> about Phone and while there are a lot of numbers there, I didn't see it...or any other serial # for that matter.

I need it to activate the phone.

It should be on the carton the phone came in, assuming you've got that. Also you can do *#06# from the dialler, that will show the IMEI.

No, that didn't work. And I don't have the carton...I bought the phone on Swappa.

Settings -> About Phone -> Status

Did you go to the Status page in About Phone? That's the default location, and here's a video for the Galaxy S6:

I found it!! and for others who are a new as I am...the IMEI on the S6 is in Settings>About Phone>Status.

FWIW

thanks anyway.

^ Ships passing in the night. Thank you (both of you) for taking the time.

MEID and IMEI are both forms of phone serial numbers called ESN (Electronic Serial Number).

MEID is for CDMA phones, IMEI is for GSM. I think newer CDMA phones also use IMEI now.

Yes, you're right. I was going to do an online compatibility check for a Verizon S6 and the checker wanted the MEID. I thought they might be the same but the checker wanted a 14 or 18 digit number and my IMEI was 15. When I tried it anyway the checker "encountered a problem" So I called the carrier and mentioned this and the carrier decided to check it manually over the phone using the IMEI. The Verizon phone is compatible.

Hooray!

Thanks again...you're a savvy one.
