Root Important Razr MAxx Root Instruction

Hey guys, I got my new Razr Maxx activated today and I tried every root program recommended and none worked.

I was about to give up when I remembered that in order to root my bionic, I ended up having to put it in USB Camera Mode to make it work. I dunno why it's like this, but when I did it, it root easily.

So if you are having issue getting the root to take, put it in Camera Mode, and it should work!

Thanks and good luck!

Now I need to figure out how to protect it form taking some new update and unrooting, and what new rooted apps to get and use?

Rooted apps must include Titanium Backup. I also like the Ad Blocker apps. I found best way to prevent phone from pushing an update is to install a custom ROM.

I have my phone rooted and still using the ICS kernel, with a JB ROM. I need the led light to flash while screen is ON, and only AOKP ROM can do that. There are some of them, but the one I use just "works" for me (and I know it isn't being updated...)

I have JB on my tablet, and honestly do not see huge differences....

I got titanium backup, and I grabbed a couple apps that say it will prevent unrooting the phone, but I'm not sure.

I'm not sure how to do a custom rom, id that easy for a noob to do?

Also, I had adblock a few other root apps on my old phone, but I cannot find them anywhere in the play store now. Did they stop allowing those?

Yes, they stopped allowing those. The apk's are all out there though. Try AdBlocks website.

As for custom ROMs, read, read, and read some more. All have different features. I am using a JB ROM on phone, based on the ICS kernel. I won't update until an AOKP ROM is stable.

if you still have the titanium backup of the old adblock app, you can just use that to migrate it. i've done it to all my phones and tablets since they disallowed them on the play store - a total of 5 devices across manufacturers. you don't get the newest version of the app, but that's not really as important as the latest host files.

ROMing your phone is really easy with safestrap, which you should have if you're rooted. you copy/backup your current (stock) rom, deactivate it, and activate the new rom in the default rom slot. you should read up on it, either at droidrzr.com or XDA, because i'm not sure that's the exact order (it's been a while since i've bothered).
