Help In Box mail vanishes

DrGaryG

Newbie
I have a new Samsung Galaxy SIII. I can receive email but the messages disappear from the in box. Even a Verizon Techie could not help after 1 hour and sent me for a new phone and this is still the problem.

Are you using the default email app? They aren't gone. The phone is just loading the more recent or unread messages to save space. You can just view them by scrolling down and selecting "load more"

.. or you could change the sync settings. I seem to recall that one of the options on the vanilla inbox is to store all email .. not that I'd recommend that: they can mount up.

I wish it were that simple. The sync boxes are checked. Here's the weird part. When I am logged off email on my laptop, phone messages stay in the in box. When my laptop account is open, they disappear!
And my Trash folder is empty.

Hi there, DrGaryG, and welcome to Android Forums! :)

Sorry you're having problems with your e-mail, but the knowledgeable folks here on the S3 board will probably help you sort it all out.

I've merged your threads so all replies can be in one handy dandy place. :D

Thank you. The Verizon Tech was not helpful at all. The IT folks at my university are also working on this issue. One colleague of mine has the same phone and same university account and no problems. Weird isn't it?

Just checking, if the emails are gone from your phone, are they also deleted from the server? Meaning you can't see them when you log into a laptop? Or are they still there?

Maybe you can run down your settings?

I run outlook 07 at work on a 365 exchange account and i have not encountered anything like that.

You are using an exchange setup for both and not a pop for one? Sounds like they are fighting for supremacy on the syncing of the server.

I am running a ROM but the email settings on mine should be similar. Maybe try toggling the device conflict priority.

The other option would be to uninstall the mail account, and uninstall the mail program updates back to the beginning and reupdate it (The best you can do with built in apps) or give a different email app a try to see if you have the same issue.

Both are Exchange accounts. I have reinstalled Outlook on my phone 5 times now to no avail. My university's main Outlook tech is going to help me with this later today.
Are you suggesting I reinstall it on my Laptop? I don't want to lose mail I have stored in different files.
