as long as the unit does the intended function, then you are good to go. could be low memory, etc.
if you have 3rd party launchers, rooted, etc, this can affect things.
for the record, i dont have that issue you experience.

Whenever I am in a phone call in my nexus 6 and I bring the volume down because the speaker is to loud, then I miss every other call because apparently the incoming call beep is tied to the volume control basically is almost as if you mute incoming calls by lowering the volume, I would like to know if there is maybe some fix for this. Already went to t-mobile with this problem and the person who assisted me had the same phone and same issue, I was told this was a normal feature of the phone, but really missing all my calls is not normal please help.

What? Smart phones are still used for phone calls?
in the stock configuration, that's how it is. rooting may offer more options but i can not confirm that.
