In-Car Speakerphone Mic

mbragg1

Newbie
I'm looking for a 3.5 mm microphone with a long cord (at least 6 ft.) to use as an in-car speakerphone mic. Ideally, it would be something small. The cord needs to be long enough so I can run the wire under the dash and up near the visor. I can't seem to find one anywhere even though it seems so simple.

Here's the setup Im working on-

.........HTC INCREDIBLE
..................v
..............Splitter
............./...........\
......... v .................v
...Microphone........Car AUX-IN

So that I can listen to MP3s and GPS directions through the phone as well as take calls.

Everything I'm finding is Bluetooth, and to me, Bluetooth=expensive, and it's a pain to have to turn it on and off every time you want to use it.

Any advice??

TIA.

I get what you are trying to accomplish, but I have had success just connecting to the car AUX-IN and using the mic on the phone with it sitting in the center console. You may want to try this first. Phone rings and call is heard through the car speakers, but my voice is picked up with the phones speakerphone mic.

I was curious because I have a similar problem. I have a bluetooth receiver that plugs into the 3.5mm AUX socket on my car stereo. So I can play music through my phone which plays over the car speaker system but obviously the phone uses bluetooth to send the audio.

Here's the bit of kit... http://www.amazon.co.uk/JUSTOP-BTR0...DEVQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1329072198&sr=8-4

The problem is that when it's activated it assumes that headphones are plugged into the phone. When someone calls, I hear the ringing and the other person speak through the car speakers, but the phone microphone is disabled as the phone assumes I'm using a microphone on the 'headset'.

Is there any way around this that you can think of?

Cheers

MJ
