Root In love with my new One V

I just upgraded to the One v from the Optimus V last night. I paid $49.99 for it. Its on sale at Radio Shack who was sold out, so I price matched at Best Buy. I am so far SUPER happy with this phone. A great upgrade for me over the Optimus V.

Now I ask, what is the benefit to rooting. I did not root my O-V. I am a basic user, who is not looking for super fancy, just useful...is it needed?
