So one of my friends being his stupid self said he was going to get a replacement phone and report it didn't get there, and get a second one, but in theory wouldn't vm disable the first phone. That's what I told him, but I'm not exactly sure.Is that what they would do?

Yes, they will disable it.

When a phone is lost or stolen it gets disabled so he, or anyone, wont be able to activate it.

So one of my friends being his stupid self said ...

You might think about getting better/smarter friends... :p As the saying goes, if you hang around shit, you'll look and smell like shit... What your so-called 'friend' doing is larceny and fraud.

That's what I figured I told him its probably illegal I just wanted to confirm my theory

Phone would be black listed and be useless, this is fraudulent, wrong, and costs Sprint/Virgin Mobile money which eventually gets passed on to the customer. People that attempt to abuse the replacement phone system should be denied service through Sprint/Virgin Mobile/Boost.
