Help Incoming phone calls no longer display

Ron Ross

Newbie
This is the weirdest thing. Until recently all incoming phone calls would ring and display on my phone, even if it's in sleep or lock mode. Now, I only get the ringing phone without any display. I called Samsung, but after a frustrating 45 minute call where they had me do everything, including total reset, the problem still exists. Now their "canned" response was to contact my carrier (Verizon) since it's their problem. Can anyone offer a suggestion as to how to get my incoming calls to display?

Try opening your dialer app to the keypad and then tap on menu (three dots in the upper right) and go to call settings>more and see if incoming voice call pop-up is enabled.

I went to Settings>Apps>App Manager>Show System Apps>Phone and noticed that Notifications were "Muted". However when I touched Notifications it displayed "On Locked Screen" > Show content. This is strange

If you ask me both Google and Samsung are making these settings to convoluted to manage properly.

Just curious. How do we know it's a carrier issue? I wonder because they will claim ignorance. Do I call Verizon and have them "reset" something?

I mean if you have factory reset your phone and made calls on it and it still behaves this way, it may be something wrong with your phone account.

Problem is solved. It appears that Galaxy/Verizon includes a bloatware app called Message+. This lousy app creates havoc when a call comes in and immediately displays Unknown as the caller. It simply would not go away. The way I got it not show up was to turn off notifications on incoming calls, which of course, stops all incoming calls from showing up. Numerous calls to Samsung and Verizon yielded no help. I finally Googled it and after a few tries, I finally found a similar situation whereas the exact problem occurred with someone else. The fix was posted and now I'm happy. Side note: Samsung tech support is useless. Verizon went out of their way to offer as much assistance as anyone could. They were great, including replacing the phone. However it was self advocating that ultimately found and fixed it.
