Incrdible 1 upgrade question

I did a search and didn't see this so hope I'm not repeating this. I have the original Incredible 1. It has been an awesome phone but now it is not charging right and the battery is getting extremely hot. Also I have a lot of dropped calls but I also live in a concrete block home.
I am considering upgrading to the Dinc 2 but is it really that much of an upgrade to pay $200? Then there is the Droid Charge to consider. I like the HTC UI but would consider trying another.
Also I'm not sure if I really need 4G. I am worried about the pricing of the 4G plans and if my phone will be able to connect. (So why pay for service if I can't get it). We have 4G in my area but even my Dinc 1 goes to 1X a lot of the time in my home.
So the reason for upgrade would be screen size would love 4.3 but would got for 4". Maybe a little faster but that isn't a huge issue for me but maybe I would like streaming videos. Better reception is the main reason for upgrading. Not sure if the new technology gets better signals and therefore I may get a little better reception.
Any suggestions as to which one to consider? Also would consider the Thunderbolt.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'd stop by a store where you could play with a DInc 2 and see how you like it. I have a Thunderbolt myself and I really enjoy the HTC interface compared to the Motorola one also.

As for 4G, if you do allot of web surfing and data uploading/downloading and you're in a 4G area, it may be worth it to go to the Thunderbolt or the Charge. But you'll have to decide what's the best for you.

Hope that helps a little!

In my humble opinion, 4G isn't quite yet worth the extra cost on your wallet and the battery. Yes, if you are in a 4G area you will get some awesome up/down speeds but the hit your battery takes to get facebook updates a couple seconds faster isn't worth it to me. I would rather have a phone that is solid, quick, with proven reliability (again, just my opinion) than a phone that can jump onto a faster network with a much much shorter battery life.

4G will be here for a while to come so let it simmer a bit, let new phones come and go and when those kinks are worked out the reliable and solid 4G phones will emerge and then would be the time to upgrade.

Just my two cents.

Verizon 4g is on the 700mhz spectrum, 3G is like 850 and 1900 I believe, mostly 1900 or so I am told, or maybe it's 1700, all the same it's higher up, which means lower building penetration. If you are in solid 4G coverage there is actually a chance you might get decent coverage indoors, especially if you can get 3g sometimes in your house but sometimes it goes back to 1x, the 4G signal might be strong enough to just fix that issue, but that's not a certain thing of course.

Aside from that the D2 INC is not worth the cost for an upgrade I don't think, consider a different phone like the charge which you mentioned might be good, or the htc thunderbolt.
