Increased volume on optimus?

I'm using an optimus and I'd like to know if there is any easy way to increase the volume output past the built-in maximum, particularly for when playing music and listening via headphones? I'm using extremely expensive noise cancellation headphones, yet I still get miserable music volume. :(

I do not want to root or hack my phone unless it is the last and only option...
 
In all seriousness, if I can't figure out how to increase the volume without having to root/unlock (whatever) the phone, I'm taking it back in my 1 month return grace period. 50% of my interest in having this phone is to use it as my primary MP3 player, and if it's going to have such low volume, I'm out...

You can certainly do that. My Evo doesnt output music at a high volume either. And I am rooted, but even with DSP manager, it can only boost it a little bit before it gets distorted.
