Indie Filmmaking with Galaxy Fold 2

I'm trying to simplify my life, and not have so many different devices. I'm also an documentary filmmaker, and I know the Fold 2 has a good camera.

However, I'm wondering how it do rendering video footage (1920, not 4k). I know a lot of laptops aren't made for rendering an entire feature film, so I'm guessing the Fold may struggle with that.

However, I'm curious if anyone has tried rendering a feature film using the Fold and android video editing apps, and if so, how did it go? What were the pros and cons of doing so?

Thank you for any feedback.

the camera(s) on the fold is adequate for shots of flowers on a hike, or your child's bar mitzvah. i would not use it for serious video capture.
the design of the fold is not setup for rugged documentary use , and is also not its target demographic.

if you are wanting to do everything "in the box", e.g. capturing footage, rendering and editing on the fold, that i would advise against. the inner screen on the fold is quite sensitive and if you damage it out in the field, you can't go to a local rental house and rent another one whilst this one is getting sent of to be fixed.

stick to separate components. you can do a lot on a tablet so I would perhaps use the fold as a monitor for dailies but keep a laptop around for serious editing and such.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply. One thing I noticed was there are some comparison videos on youtube where the Fold's camera compares quite favorably to the iphone 12. Also, this type of documentary shooting is pretty simple, not a lot of movement going on.
My main concern was the processing power of the Fold, if it could render an 80 minute 1080p video that had few if any effects. I guess the technology may not quite be there yet but am trying to get more info on it. Thanks again for the feedback.

Samsung does offer better cameras in the Note20 Ultra and S21 Ultra series of phones. Plus also depending on your particular style of "film making", the Fold 2 might be too fragile(especially the screen) for such activities? IMO folding screen phones in their current form are really boutique devices for the guy who must have the latest technology, regardless of practicality.

As for feature film length HD video editing and rendering, I definitely think that work flow would be much better done with an appropriate specced laptop and editing software.
